AED Locations

Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are located throughout campus for emergency use. Campus Safety Officers are trained and certified in their use.

Enhanced campus safety and security

草莓影视 employs a network of CCTV cameras across campus to enhance public safety, monitor university assets, and investigate criminal activity. These cameras are mounted in public areas and are used in accordance with the institution’s values. Camera images are not monitored continuously; data is stored on the university’s network servers and reviewed when necessary. Only authorized personnel have access to the camera system data.

 

Lost and found

Lost items found on campus may be turned in to the Campus Safety office in Building #8. To inquire about lost or found items, contact Campus Safety at (773) 244-5600.

 

Personal safety tips

Preparation is key to limiting risk in emergency situations. Familiarize yourself with important contacts and campus safety procedures. If you find yourself in a life-threatening situation, dial 9-1-1 immediately.

 

Protect yourself

  • Download and set up the LiveSafe personal safety app, offered free for 草莓影视 students, faculty, and staff.
  • Learn the Viking Shuttle route to plan safe travel around campus at night.
  • If you sense a potential threat, consider your options and take action immediately to get away from danger.
  • Yell or scream to attract attention.
  • Go into an open business or building and call for help.
  • Call 9-1-1 if you are in immediate danger.
  • When you’re on campus, call Campus Safety at (773) 244-5600.
  • Describe what happened and where.
  • Give a detailed description of the suspect, as well as any vehicle involved and its license number.
  • Tell the operator which direction the person went, as well as any other pertinent information.

 

Protect your property

  • Keep doors and windows of your residence locked.
  • Never prop open otherwise locked doors.
  • Don鈥檛 leave purses, backpacks, or books unattended anywhere on campus.
  • Keep a list of serial numbers and descriptions of your valuables.
  • Engrave valuable items with your driver鈥檚 license number.
  • Campus Safety has engravers to loan out.
  • Don鈥檛 keep large sums of cash, jewelry, or other valuables in your room.
  • Any valuables you do bring to campus should leave with you when you go home for vacation.
  • Always remove your keys and lock your car.
  • Purchase a parking permit and park in campus-owned parking lots.
  • Never leave valuables visible in your car.
  • Lock them in your trunk or take them with you.

 

Safety on Campus

  • 草莓影视鈥檚 emergency alert system is an important tool for all students, faculty, and staff to assist them in staying safe on campus.
  • Through this system, you can be informed via text message of dangerous situations as they are occurring and receive precautionary instructions.
  • You must opt-in to receive these texts.

 

Safety in your residence hall

  • Never let anyone into the hall unless you positively know they are fellow students or are your personal guests.
  • Never prop open outside doors.
  • Keep your door locked when you are inside your room, and make sure it is locked whenever you leave, even if it is only for a few moments.
  • Never leave handbags, billfolds, jewelry, or other valuables unattended in dorm rooms, showers, or lounges.
